The Best Defense is a Good Offense
Throughout the country, radar and laser speed detection equipment is used by law enforcement to identify speeding vehicles. What’s sometimes confusing is that not all of the equipment is the same. Driving throughout Indiana and neighboring states of Michigan and Illinois to the north, you’ll find a wide range of radar and laser speed detection equipment in use across various agencies. At Cartronix, we’re experts in the features and functionality to identify your best choices in a defense for radar and laser speed detection. We help you analyze where and on which type of roads you drive so that we can ensure you have the kind of coverage that identifies law enforcement radar or laser equipment well before they see you. If you find yourself in a car that likes being driven fast or you’re always in a rush on the road, the expert installation technicians install radar and laser detectors that alert you to slow down and avoid those costly speeding tickets.
All of the radar and laser detectors we sell and install are legal for use on passenger vehicles in the State of Indiana, as well as Illinois, Michigan, Ohio and Kentucky. In Illinois and Ohio, radar detectors are not legal for use on commercial vehicles; something to consider depending on where and what you drive when crossing state lines.
Radar speed detection uses specific frequency bands identified by letters such as X, K and Ka. Indiana State law enforcement agencies use a combination of X, K and Ka band radar speed detection equipment, so you will be pleased to know that our radar detection systems cover all those radar bands. The on-board GPS and anti-falsing technology for X band alerts ignores known items that also operate on close range radar technology, such as automatically opening doors at supermarkets and in shopping centers. Many of our radar detectors also have database information stored for known red light and speed cameras, as well as user-reported speed trap areas. Some even connect with your smartphone to provide up-to-the-minute updates of this database information. It’s quite compelling how technology equipped today’s radar detectors have become.
Our radar detector options have coverage for both the front and rear of the vehicle. While we offer many detectors in the windshield-mounted category, our most popular are remote-mounted (completely hidden) ‘stealth’ radar detection systems. The remote-mounted systems cover front and rear radar signals most efficiently because their sensors reside in the front and rear bumper areas, rather than in a single unit on the windshield or dash. The remote-mounted systems also have the benefit of being completely hidden. Warning signals can be customized with LED warning lights and user-adjustable alert sounds, all of which are accessible on a small display we install wherever it’s easily visible, yet discretely placed. In some specific applications, we can provide a custom interface that allows the radar detector’s information and warnings to display in the vehicle’s electronic instrument cluster (Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Audi, Maserati, Cadillac CTS-V and Escalade, etc.). Our attention to detail and unique custom installation capabilities ensure a discrete radar detection system that will not devalue the look and function of your vehicle. Think of our custom installation radar detector systems as ‘highly integrated.’
The best way to learn about what options are available to you and your specific vehicle is to visit us in person and experience our interactive displays. We’ve installed these systems on nearly every type of vehicle including BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Cadillac, Chevrolet Corvette, Jaguar, Ferrari, Tesla, all brands of domestic and import trucks, and more. A friendly and knowledgeable product specialist can easily answer your questions and help guide you toward an effective radar detection strategy for your unique needs.
Laser speed detection is used more and more often in Indiana and surrounding states, particularly in certain counties in Illinois and Michigan to which Indiana residents frequently travel. That means there is high probability law enforcement can detect your speed without alerting you if your radar detector lacks laser coverage. The addition of laser detection capabilities ensures you have the most comprehensive detection coverage on your vehicle no matter what method is in use by law enforcement. Laser is often referred to as LIDAR on some laser speed detection products, but these terms mean the same thing. The way it works is that laser-based law enforcement speed detection requires a targeting a specific point on the front of the vehicle. It’s this point on which the laser beam locks in and their equipment calculates vehicle speed. Our laser detection systems alert you to this specific type of detection, often well before the officer is even visible to you. All of our laser-enabled systems are available in remote-mounted (hidden) configurations and can be easily combined with the radar detection as a complete and comprehensive speed detection warning package.
At Cartronix, we also offer laser diffusion systems that install on the front of the car. As an added measure of avoiding a speeding violation, these laser diffusers help to scatter the area on which the law enforcement laser beam ‘locks in’ to compute the vehicle’s speed and we install them to be virtually undetectable. Laser diffusers add additional peace-of-mind when driving on laser patrolled roads and highways where hills or changing elevation may make the laser invisible to the detection system until within sight of the officer. Think of a laser diffuser upgrade as an added measure of safety to alert you to slow down.
